Matt's Eight Days O' Chrimbo (yes 8, count them!) Dec. 18th, 2005 @ 10:35 pm
Hello hellooooo :D
Yes tis me, am late this year I realise that.......................................

*cue hazy flashback scene to last xmas*
Matt presented a legendary serial that chronicled the oh-so-exciting countdown to Xmas. It won mass acclaim, and provided many laughs
*end hazy thing*

So after checking my watch and calender (just to make doubly sure i'm late) I unveil "Matt's Eight Days O' Chrimbo" (working title, it may change.....daily...........especially if I forget what I named it) Today's present to you all is a *cues drum roll* a Christmas themed Supermatteth!!!

Super brilliant yes? :p I know, I know, what can I say - I was pushed for time ;)

Expect more tomfoolery in our next escapade! And who knows, maybe even an appearence from an old friend

Hope you're all well yes?

Once again into the fold Nov. 24th, 2005 @ 07:15 pm
Yes yes calm it down, your eyes don't deceive you.... it is really me!

Long time I realise, and yep I promised an update with pictures but that'll have to wait. Lots of things been happening recently, some good, some not so good. Plenty of time for that later :p

Anyway, crack on with the important things! CHRISTMAS is a-coming and I want YOUR addresses so I can send some festive merriment your way. So you know the drill, leave your addresses/names/christmas wishes below and I'll see what I can do. All comments will be screened for your protection.....(as I'm sure you don't want random strangers posting you used underwear and similar tomfoolery)

Hope everyone is fi-diddly-ine

This is a message in respect of Mr David Ford:

The debut album 'I Sincerely Apoligise For The Trouble I've Caused' is out in shops NOW, that's this week folks.

So there's no excuse not to get down to HMV and pick up a copy.
In two and a half words: Heart-achingly beautiful (and that's coming from me!)

More later

So.............big was never beautiful Sep. 23rd, 2005 @ 11:56 pm
And we'll have more on that subject-line in a bit.......

But for now! Onward my friends for a regular LJ entry (and not too soon you might add)

I have suddenly developed the hankering for a kick up the 80's, and I'm talking music before anyone asks. So, I took advantage of the HMV online sale:

Tears for Fears - The Collection
Joy Division - Substance 1977/1980
Depeche Mode - The Remixes collection 3
Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze 2cd set (okkkk, not technically 80's, but its near enough)

I scared myself enough, so Funeral for a Friend's "Hours" was also thrown in. Nothing quite says EMO like FFAF........

Tomorrow (Sat 24th) we are taking my brother off upto Carlisle - where he will study arts of the performing variety and theatre production. Yes. What's more, it's an Institute *the world would be better if we were all institutionalized!* This is gonna be one heck of a drive (5+ hours) so we're making a weekend out of it. I'm also taken the liberty of booking Mon/Tues off work *has worked butt off* besides it's David Ford in Birmingham on Monday evening *woopee* good old fashioned giggage, at last

And on a parting note (one which I never wanted to be making) I should inform you King Adora have decided to call it a day and have thrown in their feather boa's.
For the fans, head on over to http://kingadora.conforums.com/index.cgi?board=general and leave messages etc

Goodnight my friends,

Matteth presents:

A satirical and often irrelevent take on the X-Files ninth (and final) season
-------------------------------------------------------

I must hold my hand up and announce my love for all things X-Files, and in all fairness didn't think the show's final season 'was that bad'.

However as time goes by - opinions can change..... (as the recent plop of the boxset landing on my doorstep gravely reminded me)

Ep 9x01 "Nothing Important Happened Today" (part 1)

A new season and a new title sequence! There is also a slight name-change (which hasn't been previously documented) The X-Files is now THE SEXY FILES.
Yep, It's official

And *gasp* look at how glossy it all is! The Slick n' Sexy Files

A few revelations:

Sexy Files gets naked flesh! By the bucketload!
Lucy Lawless in the buff/Monica in seductive black lingerie-oh what a tease!/a topless Doggett.
And Who was that in Scully's shower? My brain can't take much more excitement

Along with the name change we begin to see the influence of such flag-ship shows as 'Ally Mcbeal'. Observe the first EXCITING 20 minutes; flirtation in the boardroom! AND THAT IS ALL FOR 20 FRIGGIN' MINUTES. Ok, so Calista Flockhart and co. can get away with this bone-idleness, gushy relationship drivel and general lack of plot development but c'mon guys!

No Mulder still, but the Skin Man bags muchos screen time. Rock on.

So, to summarize. Well.... the title of the episode says it all really.

[Second thoughts]

I am suddenly overcome by the desire to burst into song:
Which song I hear you ask?

That D:Ream mid-90's classic "Things can only get better". Watch out for next week's previously on the X-files montage
» -
I don't wish to get all high and mighty, but I think it goes without saying that today has been a really sad, sad day not just for England but for Western society as a whole. How do these people even sleep at night?
My thoughts go out especially to those in London today, but also to everyone else. Hope you're all okay.

supermatteth

supermatteth lies somewhere in the dark realms amidst Chris Martin and Bryan Adams in terms of vocal talent. And that ain't a complement. supermatteth is affy shite.

miss_holly_t

If you take Johnny Marr, chop off all but one of his fingers with a guillotine, beat him over the head with a baseball bat for an hour then you will have a brain damaged squealing vegetable of a man who is on par in terms of guitaring talent as miss_holly_t.
bionickate

After failing to hit a single correct note during a performance, an infuriated miss_holly_t ran over to the hapless bassist and began smashing them over the head with their guitar. Being a rather hard bastard bionickate survived.
superschmazz

superschmazz might have made it in a shite punk band, but that's about it I'm afraid.
sparklysky

Reckless and heavy handed, sparklysky has single-handledly destroyed around8 keyboards since they started playing in Jun 2005.

*Checks calender*
Been a long time hasn't it? I'm not one to blow my horn on a regular basis....
Bit of a chore isn't it ;)

And I doubt any of you loyal readers would 'enjoy' every single small microscopic miniscule detail of my so-called life - washed my hair with conditioner you say? What's that, Strawberry and mixed berries? Fascinating stuff, and hey you'd never guess what else? Hoovered yesterday too, and dusted! KAPOW! Eat that dust, keep Mr Sneeze at bay for another week
Sarcastic? Meeeeeeee? Never :p

A lot of stuff has been going on since our last fleeting romantic encounter on the stairs. I will summarize:
(blow by blow, THWHACK, OOOF, SPLAT etc)

-13/06/05 was =W= day. Weezer Day for those falling behind the crowd. Left for Birmingham pretty late (darnit Muttley) and drove hell for leather all the way. The Subways were supporting, and the crowd were clearly digging it. Pretty impressive, and despite what some say 'Charlotte' is pretty tasty. The Nirvana and Vines comparisons are true, but this is good thing. Yes?
Obviously everyone was waiting for Weezer. I can't describe the atmospehere in words, it was ELECTRIC! The moment Subways left the stage, there was chanting galore for Rivers and the boys....... And when they arrived, KAPOWW!!! I can't remember the last gig that matched the atmospehere, it must have been a LONG time ago that's for sure. We were right near the front, just left a bit, and narrowly avoided the various crowd surfers/moshers/buffoons that plagued the set. The classics were definately highlights of the evening, the new poppier stuff like 'Beverley Hills' went down well, as indeed 'Hashpipe' but nahhhh, for me this doesn't get my love juices flowing. Sweater Song/Say It Isn't So/Buddy Holly now this is the good shit :p Clicky here for a terribly bad photo from my phone
(Sidenote: There was a particulary amusing and cute girl dancing away right next to us, red thong I do believe!)
On the drive back home we did the glamourous thing and detoured for toilets..... getting slightly lost in the heart of Birmingham's 'ethnic' capital, finding a Tesco's seemingly encased within a parking lot, what's more we were the only caucasians in the darn place :p After retreating back to car we turned up the Matrix soundtrack album and rawked our way back. End.

-Lets see, the weekend after that was the Peace Festival. This is a festival that comes round to Leamington every year, and I 'usually' avoid it. But heck it was pretty fun, VERY VERY hot weather so me and brother escaped into the pub for a bit........ This is also the place where I picked up the now 'infamous' Bongo drum. Ace! [Oh, I went and met Kate for the first time in months (which was nice) We sat on the swings in the park for several hot hours.]
Lots of cheap jewellery was bought too, its all gravy :D
This particular weekend saw the beginning of the epic heatwave that's been sweeping the land, as such our trip to Stratford upon Avon (the sunday) was way too hot and exasperating. Later on we took my Dad for a beer down the local, to treat him on Father's day

-Last week: well it's been an interesting one. Work has been going good, but the darn place has only been gone and nominated for an 'Investor in People' award jobby. So guess what? I've been chosen to go for an interview, and theoretically sell the place to these judging big-wig people. Fun ;)
And by the way, the whole TV-show myth about everything happening in the photocopying room? It's all true, it really is the place to be dawg!

-Saturday night (yesterday) saw me meeting up with some old pals, namely Claire and Shiva (and ummm the evil Ex, whom we shan't mention okay?) was a pretty fun night to be honest! Gary and I had some fun japes before we teamed up with others, we visited the Well (old haunt of old) and was pleased to find the usual frightening types. Excellent. One particular young lady decided to show me the contents of her top, and partial inside her jeans too because I innocently complimented her on her tattoos. There were two.......
Later on the crew headed back to Shiva and Claire's flat, very impressive it was too. Not what I expected for bottom of Leamington I tell u.
Trouble is, we didnt leave till gone 3am. I blame the tea, must have been drugged. Yes? And the impromptu singalongs, the dancing with kitchen broom (I got very possessive of it?!), too much Snakebite, embarrasing baby photos and more Jack Johnson than you can shake a broom at.

Ok, that is that, but I will leave you with some delightful photographs of St Mary's Church (where I spend many a lunch break on a leisurely stroll) How very 1940's of me!? Oh and the 'Silver Wizard' man from our trip to Bath (forgot to mention that! Blonde, me?)

Enjoy :D

» I Sincerely Apoligize For The Lack Of Subject Heading...
Greetings friends, family, lovers, friends of lovers, junkies - and indeed whores
Seeing as my last entry was a rather painless affai (and lists being what they are) I thought if it ain't broke! So here I present to you my bank-holiday weekend in condensed form. A summary rather like coffee - but made with only half the fat of real milk, and a sugar substitute obviously. Lite? The healthy salad summary, as opposed to a hearty meaty monster of a summary. Okay you get the picture.

-Pubness, muchos.
-Foolishly forgetting my pin (before drinks) 3 times
-On mission for money acquire 17p pack of bubblegum (from Tescos's)
-Stupidly announcing to whole store my (now remembered pin)
-Continue to announce to anyone who's listening
-Shop assistant (cute, but who I wish never to see again) accepts claim for cash-back
-Voila! £40 withdrawn for 17p pack of bubblegum
-Drunken photos on phones
-Then Tequila...
-Twice
-These sofa's are so comfy!
-Make drunk plans for road-trip, Cheltenham!
-Strange pervy guy follows us, accosting friend's gf
-He takes a hike.
-Chinese! In a restaurant (At midnight!)
-My legs feel wobbly, hey this food is good!
-Chop-sticks down trousers, the art of smuggling...
-Success!

-Did we have Chinese last night?
-King Adora, Turbonegro at Academy in Birmingham
-105mph!
-Maxi kissed Robbie
-Thin Lizzy cover!
-Yum girls in crowd
-Is she a hooker?
-Worried slightly by sight of Turbonegro
-Satan!
-ERRECTION!
-Funny songs
-Alas more pubbage

Tomorrow, shopping!

Hope everyone is cool, here is my wrist from Sunday's gig! :)

I feel crazy, let's ditch the norm and do a wacky list-entry-thing!
Yeah

Thing's I'm not liking:
-An extraordinary large 'clump' of letters/application forms/random junk to sift through on a Monday morning. For anyone guessing I'm referring to antics in the workplace and not some bizarre fetishist activity

-Phonecall from Irish schmuck trying to convince me that 'Yes' my phone-contract is being cancelled, and then precedes to ask me questions about my provider, my tariff, my name and other such personal details. Faggot!

-I feel that faggot comment was justified?

-The weather, just what is going on exactly? Hail-stones! Ouch

-The fact that 'the best Pirate in Rock music' Frankie (from The Darkness no less) has split from the band - citing artistic differences. This is not happening!! Who are we gonna laugh and point and giggle at now? Pirate-rock!

-The fact there's 4 days till the weekend, come on I'm looking forward to my days off! I plan big things!

-Rudeness and blatant ignorance.

And for the cause of political correctness, here is a mini (abridged) good list:

-The new Glitterati single 'Heartbreaker' is out this week kids. Plus there are 2 vinyl versions, yes 2. One is blue, the other pink! Get some vaguely decent music in the charts again, and kick this Akon and Crazy Frog shit to the kerb. Have no mercy!!

-Nightwish, they are very good. And anyone who dismisses them for being 'Gofic' deserves a slap too. Now how about a copy of that Akon cd?

-Skittles, the yummy fruity chew. They just rock generally.

-Scrubs! Nuff' said

-Tresemme' and Fudge hair products. Together they do funky and wacked out things to my hair.

-Hot drunk girls who dance provocatively in nice dresses. This is just a general good point, wouldn't u agree?

-Bracelets. I've rediscovered my dying love

-Drunkeness. It just rocks, simple as

And on that very random list I shall leave, hope everyone is good! Some people more than others :p

Ok, so she may be utterly loopy and barking mental (yes, I realise that those two words don't go together particulary well.... but I feel experimental kay?) ANYWAY, my point was? Courtney Love's "America's Sweetheart" is blooming ace!
There's just something in her voice that convey's so much emotion.... add to that some killer riffs and hey you're away.

Past 24hrs:
Yet more shopping. No cd's in sight, but more clothes! I WILL be the shirt king darnit ;) Still, should keep me in check at work for the foreseeable future!) And I refuse to be BORING and wear a white shirt, I won't do it, won't won't won't.

I'm feeling a lot of things, last night was mega fun. Maybe I owe this to the 'no shame' attitute I adopted early on (and badgered Matt into adopting it too) end result was mingling in Mackey's surrounded by a somewhat beautiful crowd. That's not to say there was some strife, in a moment of blind stupidity I sprayed contents of glass all over the place, a hurried turn of the back and pressure to hold in almighty giggling fit eventually paid off :p Our cover was not blown amigo!

I love cute little indie brunette girls (called Caz?) yeah but come the end of the night I was left with some reservations. Same time same place next week eh? Your guess is as good as mine on that one folks.
And if you can't put small details like this in your own journal then what's the point of keeping one hey?

Today I mainly lounged around on bed (as is becoming usual) watching a host of dvd's (Lone Gunmen yay!) and another healthy dose of new Scrubs (double yay!) after that I decided it was time for exercise (don't ask?!) Now this is something I've thought about for a good few months, and yeah today I gave in. We have a 'makeshift' gym down the bottom of out garden (what used to be Dad's classic car shed) ok, avoid the spiders, mind yer head... I managed nearly forty minutes on the rowing machine, and geeez do I feel GOOD!
(that last bit's a lie, I somehow negotiated the garden on my way back to safety of the kitchen. I was knackered man!) And I'm gonna keep this up? Hmm, watch this space.

No but seriously, I feel proud. (There's a fit/healthy matt inside of me somewhere?)

This week at work we have an 'Away' day on Thursday. I thought this was supposed to be a fun little foray, out of office for a day, team bonding? No way chap, we've been booked into a hotel for a day of Risk Assessment training. The happiness radiates from my healthy glow!

Hope everyone is okay, and cool :D I'll just collapse into a heap if you don't mind.
Byeeeeeee,
Matt x

P.S did anyone actually watch the flash movie I included in our last entry? Sing along now.... 'Cats are the kittycats - dance dance dance, dance dance dance' Shame on you! ;)

I'll make this one short and relatively sweet, very much like a female King Adora fan (years ago of course, and scarily young back then). Yes.

I may have done this before but who wants a Gmail (email) invite? I had to send one to my dad so I may as well do you guys at the same time! 2GB people, think of all those emails (and all those illegally downloaded files you could store!)

And while I'm in a giving mood, I've been informed a rather hefty parcel is winging itself my way. Filled with new Glitterati posters (album), badges, and assorted gubbins. I still have some posters from the last round, the first 3 people who want some get 'em. Kapiche?

(obviously I have a lotlotlot more badges, so I could be flexible in that respect)

P.S Kris, I think I'm just gonna settle on the cd I have made :p I'll never be perfectly happy with what I chose!

» I've wanted so much
What's this? A sunday-morning entry I hear you cry! Yes indeed.

It's a beautifully sunny morning, and BOY it's HOT! I have the blinds up (which means I'm currently blinded by the sun) and the velux open ;) Actually it's probably hotter here than in the garden, I'm perspiring!

Last night was funny/annoying/fun all at the same time.
I wore my new very Franz-Ferdinand black shirt, I felt so retro? Everyone else made an effort too.
It began with me and Gary, Matt joined us later (glamourously late by an hour) the evening was spent laundering from drinking-hole to drinking-hole (as is any good night) but Gary constantly glued to his phone like a somewhat horroundous PVA-glue factory accident. It was his gf no less, he was adament that we joined the girls clubbing. Naturally we put this off until the very last moment....
But because Gary was being plied with much drinkage we managed to play a few pranks mwahahaha. As such, we managed to give the poor guy the slip - we observe the wee lad returning from his 101'st phone call, so a hasty dash behind an alcove later; Gary walks past oblivious, back to our former table. While Matt and I make good our escape.
We then text him frantically from the pub we escape to, 'Where are you Gary? We've been in Bubbles for 10 minutes. Come on!' We finish our drinks with haste, and await his confused appearence. Suffice to say he apoligised for 'his' error, not understanding where the supposed 'missing' 10 minutes went.
We are onto a winner here folks ;)

Our next port of call was Mackeys, but Gary believed we were headed for the club... One quick detour taken, Matt and I were welcomed into the pub (by a rather beefy looking dude) by some coincidence he left Gary outside.
Eventually we left for the dreaded club, managed to cunningly queue jump near the front (I'm still impressed with this!) and found the drunken boy inside. Some dancing was done, thang's were shaken, booty was popping. However the rest of the evening was spent saving Gary's relationship with Kelly..... that boy......dog on heat I tell you. Added to that, Kelly and her pals decided to leave the dancing floor after what seemed every song. We'd had enough, left to get chow. Home.

What else, well since being in full-time employment I have been something of a spend-thrift. Not good, uh-uh. But I'm pretty proud of the classy jacket I bought yesterday morning. I may post a picture, if I feel good enough :p My cd collection is positively bulging (lets not take that out of context no?) with albums from Garbage, Jeff Buckley, Courtney Love, finding a home this week. Dvd-wise I ordered 'The Lone Gunman' from Amazon.com, having watched the first episode I'm liking mucho! Very funny, slick, quirky. Such a shame it got halted after one season! Why do TV exec's do this?! But kudos FOX for the quality of the set itself. The design is 'slick' ok I've used that word twice now. And disc's are packed with extra's too.

Also (keeping with the X-Files connection) I bought the classic (as in old, not the other meaning) X-files game for a mere 1.99. Ebay rocks? I'll be the first to admit (it's crap) but the FMV is worth it if you are a crazed afeciando such as myself!

Phew.
Gawd, what a load of rubbish eh?

Last bits: As part of my induction at work, I'm off to a hotel tomorrow (5 weeks too late!) for a lengthy presentation day. We get a meal tho, so that is gravy at least :p

Hope everyone is okay *looks towards some people in particular*, and hey if you see me on MSN this week give me a bell!

Matt x
» Why do you love me?
That's a very good question!
Give me your answers in 5 words or less please ;)
(The best answer will be the one I've paid the most money for)

('Why do you love me' tis also a very very good song, doesn't Shirley look GOOD in the video?)

Hmm, I was planning on making this a fun picture post entry, but ALAS! I have run out of time this weekend, I will try and present a picture story for your enjoyment say by Tuesday? *nods in agreement* For now I will quickly update you on the facts of my life - week beginning two saturday's ago......

- After wrestling with the idea for a while, I rang o2 customer services (because I've been a loyal celluar customer for several years) and asked about upgrades. Suffice to say, a few phone-calls and set backs later I came off with cross-network minutes a-plenty, a spanking new Samsung D500 for nothing and a great big grin. My 'original' contract looked something like this:

500 texts
600 off-peak mins to o2 customers, 50 cross network off-peak
£14.99 a month

With some cheesing I came off - same price, 600 cross network minutes off peak, same texts. Now this was originally gonna cost me £150 for the upgraded mobile, and £25 a month. Oh, how I love bubbly bright telephone operators named 'Kim'. I must ring her back and thank her! Yes, I must

Yesterday: I decided to place a bet (ok, bets) on the Grand National. I chose 5 horses, two of which I backed as winners. The 3 others I matched (so, if they finished in Top4 I would win a small amount back) Suffice to say Hedgehunter went and won the bloomin' race didn't he?! I staked £22, I finished with £66.24

Bonus!

What else? Ohhh it's Monday again tomorrow. So work as per-usual, this will be my 4th official week?! That's crazy, it's gone so quickly.
Today I've mostly been looking around for natty shirts for work (Argos Additions is your friend! And it's cheapish) plus I've got my eye on some retro-chique cult-cartoon t-shirts. Mmm yes, this summer I'll be retro (Not from Argos Additions I better add.....)

And another thing, Haddaway was robbed on ITV last night! His rendition of 'Toxic' was genious! Girls on electric guitars, how could anyone in their right mind choose Shakin' Stevens to win? Sorry if I offend any balding/grey folk out there, I realise you must have grown up with him ;)

Haddaway, come on!

Don't forget your answers people, :)

Matt x
